The first Body Control Pilates® company was founded in London in
1995. Body Control Pilates® exercises have been developed for both mat
and machine work and are adapted from the ‘classical’ Pilates
exercises. The classical exercises demand strength and agility and
are more suitable for people who already possess these attributes.
To make the exercises more accessible to people who wish develop
their core, ‘safer’ preparative exercises have been devised to
establish sound movement skills and build a foundation upon which to
progress. This is how the Body Control Pilates® Method is taught.
Body Control Pilates® teachers are members of the Body Control Pilates® association, a ‘not for profit’ organisation that exists to safeguard the standards and quality of Body Control Pilates® teaching.
